In December 2022, Forbes, one of the top media companies in the world that monitors world businesses, power, and influence, released their list of the most powerful women in the world, and only three are Africans. Out of the three Africans, two of them are Nigerians.

The two Nigerian women who made it to the list are Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the owner of Ebony Life, Mo Abudu. Here’s everything to know about these two women, their crazy net worth and the cars they own.

Mosunmola Abudu, popularly known as Mo Abudu, is a Nigerian media businesswoman. She was born to Nigerian parents in the United Kingdom.

At 19, she had already become a brand ambassador for AVON Cosmetics in the African market. Her early career path was in Human Resource Management before she pivoted into media.

In the early 2000s, her TV show, Moments With Mo, was a popular interview-styled. She opened Ebonylife TV, an entertainment channel, in 2006.

Today, Ebonylife airs across Africa, the Caribbean, and the United Kingdom. Her company has produced several notable Nigerian movies.

In 2019, she opened Ebonylife, a lifestyle and entertainment resort in Victoria Island, Lagos. In 2020, she started her partnership with Netflix, launching the film Oloture in September 2020.

According to Forbes, Mo Abudu “is one of the most powerful women in global media.”

She first worked at the World Bank for 25 years, and by the time she left, she was already the World Bank’s Managing Director of Operations.

She equally served two terms as Nigeria’s Finance Minister from 2003 to 2025. Forbes refers to her as having “the power of trade to lift developing countries out of poverty” and helping them “achieve sustainable development.”

Ngozi Okonjo Iweala graduated magnum cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Harvard University in 1976. She holds a master’s degree in City Planning and a doctorate degree in Regional Economics and Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
