Under the hood is a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine or a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine which produces 130kW of power and 450Nm of torque in automatic van/crew variants (peak torque between 1600-2400rpm), and 420Nm in manual van/crew variants (peak torque between 1400-2600rpm for both LWB and SLWB.
The commuter GL and LWB Crew van fires with a 2.8L turbo diesel engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle offers a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission as standard.

According to Toyota, customers can upgrade their infotainment systems with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto free of charge. To prevent damages caused by low-impact hits and accidents, the 2019 Toyota HiAce is inbuilt with a front-mounted nudge bar with inbuilt parking sensors and 6mm thick steel.
