The second-generation Jeep Compass arrived in 2017, and it has gone through a few tweaks since but has remained mostly unchanged. With its looks still relatively fresh, we expect the 2021 Jeep Compass to be a carryover model.
Powering this Compass is a 2.4L Multiair 4 cylinder paired to a 9 speed gearbox making 180HP. Now this one is fitted with AWD though FWD is standard. But this system is FWD all the time unless the rear wheels detect slippage or you change the drive mode which locks the 4×4 system.
Now the interior quality honestly isn’t THAT bad as you go have the Uconnect touch screen with apple car play along with perforated duo-tone leather seats with heat and a heated wheel! But in this car, there already is a quality issue on the wheel and some quality/fitment on the panels. Straight to the driving experience… well, it’s not the best. The 9
speed gearbox needs to figure out when to shift though it’s better than earlier models. The engine is a bit lethargic too when paired to the gearbox, not my favorite combo. Also, the visibility is poor with thick A-pillars and small mirrors not to mention FCA quality and reliability to worry about. My advice, buy a competitor, you are much better off though it isn’t the worst car to buy.
2020 Jeep Compass models
The 2020 Jeep Compass is a subcompact crossover available in four trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk. There are also Altitude and High Altitude versions of the Latitude and Limited, respectively, that add unique exterior accents and a few extra features.
All come with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine (180 horsepower, 175 lb-ft of torque). Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional on all Compasses except the Trailhawk, which comes standard with AWD. A six-speed manual transmission is available on the Sport and the Latitude, but most Compasses you will come across will have either a six-speed (for front-wheel-drive models) or a nine-speed automatic (AWD models only).
Starting things out is the Sport trim. Standard equipment highlights include heated mirrors, automatic dual-zone climate control, height-adjustable front seats, a 60/40-split rear bench, a 7-inch touchscreen, first- and second-row USB ports, and a six-speaker sound system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

2020 Jeep Compass Interior
The interior of the Compass is comfortable, functional, and has enough space for four adult passengers. The materials used are acceptable but not exactly upscale—but then again, neither is the price, and the Compass is at least as well outfitted as much of its competition.
The current Compass just missed being an IIHS Top Safety Pick due to its “Marginal” and “Poor” headlight ratings, but it aced all other tests, including the front-crash prevention. The latter, however, is with its optional automatic emergency braking, which is available as part of the Advanced Safety Group package.
Buyers can also opt for active lane control, automatic high beam headlights, blind-spot monitors, rain-sensing wipers, and active parking assist with front and rear sensors. We expect the 2021 Compass to continue with the same safety equipment and ratings.

2020 Jeep Compass Release date
Jeep has not announced an official on-sale date for the 2021 Compass, but we expect it to follow last year’s schedule and arrive in the fall of 2020.
