What’s in the Sportage’s engine determines how it will drive. Most variants have a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 181 horsepower, which is quiet but adequate for most people’s needs. The 237-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four, which is only offered on the top-tier SX Turbo trim, is what those seeking a zestier choice with quicker acceleration would choose. The all-wheel-drive SX Turbo isn’t as quick as the FWD versions of the old models. It makes up for this with the quick reflexes provided by its six-speed automatic transmission, which is a standard feature on all models. The two engines’ driving enjoyment also doesn’t differ significantly, albeit the turbocharged engine can make routine milk runs exciting.

However, with all-wheel drive, those numbers fall to 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the interstate. 

Cargo, Exterior and The Interior

Since this Kia’s interior has been compared by several reviewers to Audi products, Kia must be doing something right. The Sportage’s interior design is excellent, and it is filled with a complement of high-quality materials and clever, useful amenities. It has ample room for passengers but not for freight. Adults can fit in the rear seats, but some people might object to how low the seat cushion is placed. Its seat-down luggage capacity and movable load floor somewhat make up for the class’s limited cargo space and lack of storage space for smaller goods. 

Connectivity and Infotainment System

Each model has an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The tactile knobs and buttons make the system simple to use, but the menus’ small icons and unattractive design detract from how upscale the rest of the interior appears. Wireless device charging and built-in navigation are desirable features of the model.
