The Mercedes-Benz CLA is one of the most attractive Mercedes-Benz vehicles available, but it is also the most expensive. One of the best-looking Mercedes-Benz vehicles ever produced is the CLA Class. Just like the Corolla is to Toyota, this automobile was designed to be a car for everyone.

Sales-wise, the Mercedes-Benz CLA went on to become a highly popular subcompact luxury entry-level vehicle. The Nigerian auto market also reflects the increased sales. The CLA is the most popular 4-door coupe from Mercedes-Benz in Nigeria.

The CLA is the least desirable Mercedes-Benz available in Nigeria, nevertheless. The CLA Class by Mercedes-Benz received a lot of consideration, and it was simple to draw the conclusion that it was motivated by peer pressure from Japanese automakers like the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, which is not at all a poor explanation.

The Mercedes-Benz is a gorgeous var but, it is not as flawless as people believe and if you think of buying it in the near future you should know some aspects that don’t make it so good.

  • Front-wheel drive is used

Either the rear-wheel-drive Mercedes-Benz DNA or the all-wheel-drive Benz 4matic system is available. It just seems so strange to drive a front-wheel-drive Benz. This indicates that the vehicle will handle far worse than a typical Benz would. The 4Matic option on the CLA is a blessing.

The CLA with front-wheel drive does not qualify as a “fun to drive” automobile since front-wheel-drive vehicles cannot be driven as aggressively around curves as rear-wheel-drive vehicles. This is not the genuine nature of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle.

  • It feels inadequate

It has a typical 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder engine, which feels inadequate for a vehicle with this sporty appearance. The question is if the CLA is indeed a Mercedes-Benz Coupe with its meagre 208 horsepower.

Thankfully, AMG intervened to salvage this vehicle with the CLA45 model, which cranks out an incredible 355 horsepower and puts the CLA up there with other 4-door coupes on the market. With its 4matic, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG is a true-performance vehicle.

The CLA45’s powertrain complements its appearance well. The vehicle is a genuine Mercedes-Benz show car thanks to a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine and other performance components working together.

  • The bonnet stand is a shame

Despite how small the problem is, it needs to be resolved. Unlike the bonnets of all previous Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the CLA does not support itself. Who would have thought Mercedes-Benz would face such a situation? Due to its use of the same sort of stand as Hondas and Toyotas, the CLA has a cheap-feeling bonnet. That one where a metal rod is inserted into a hole in the bonnet. Such behaviour is inappropriate for a Mercedes.

  • The interior is not up to the usual Benz standards

You can see that Mercedes-Benz made shortcuts on this vehicle to make it less expensive so that it could compete with Japanese sub-compact executive vehicles in the choice of interior materials.

The interior material choices of a genuine Mercedes-Benz automobile should scream luxury, with high-quality materials placed everywhere. The bottom portions of the CLA, which you would often not touch, are just covered with stunning, rock-hard materials. They don’t want you to see this mistake, though.

When you look at the dashboard and other interior components, you might think they are high-quality, but when you touch them, you realize that they are just as comfortable as the regular Japanese executive cars that are currently available on the market.

  • The seats are not as pleasant as they could be

Though perfectly formed like a sports seat, the seats’ comfort is just inappropriate for a Mercedes-Benz vehicle. Older folks will struggle to feel comfortable in these chairs. It was not designed for long-distance road trips, so it cannot be driven on those.

Some grades of this automobile even feature passenger seats that have manual controls for adjustability. It appears at this point that Mercedes-Benz was vying for the title of the finest Japanese-made German sub-compact executive automobile.

So, what does CLA stand for in Mercedes-Benz?

Mercedes-Benz made compromises on build quality for just one vehicle, the CLA. The Mercedes-Benz CLA was not designed using the same ideas as older Mercedes models. The most common type of vehicle sold globally was a conventional automobile.

The CLA is a budget-friendly Mercedes-Benz that joins you in the Benz gang of Nigeria, but you never get to really experience a Mercedes-Benz in Nigeria, and this might lead to you developing a negative opinion of the Mercedes brand after your CLA starts to let you down due to building quality.

The CLA is your best option if you’re wanting to purchase a stylish and reasonably priced Mercedes-Benz vehicle. If you’re not a Mercedes-Benz purist, you won’t have any trouble navigating the vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Mercedes-Benz CLA a good car?

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is an excellent vehicle. It has a powerful basic turbocharged engine, but the performance-oriented AMG variant is even faster. The Car is enjoyable to drive and has respectable fuel economy for the class. A user-friendly entertainment system is among the many standard technological amenities in the upscale and fashionable interior.

Should I buy a Mercedes-Benz CLA In Nigeria?

The Car is worth considering if you don’t need a lot of interior room because it has smaller rear seats and a smaller trunk than other premium compact vehicles. Another aspect of this Mercedes, meanwhile, is small for the class: the price. This Benz is an attractive bargain alternative because the majority of competitors cost more.

Conclusion

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is not essentially a bad car, but it is not quite as good as people believe, especially for Nigerian roads. The AMG variant makes up for most of its shortcomings, but it is more expensive. If you decide to go for the Mercedes-Benz CLA, then you should know its disadvantages.
