Every nation’s economic operations rely heavily on the car sector. Additionally, it is seen as the foundational pillar of the world economy. In general, industrialized nations can produce automobiles using their readily available resources and cutting-edge technology. That makes it possible for these nations to generate a lot more employment, improve living conditions, and advance their economies.

Nigeria cannot afford to fall behind other nations in the race for industrial enterprise and economic significance. The nation has various domestic vehicle assembly and manufacturing facilities. In addition, the government has passed advantageous rules and tax laws to support the growth of the domestic auto sector.

The Nigerian government introduced a new car policy in 2013 that prohibited the import of fully constructed vehicles. As a result, automobile makers have grabbed the possibility of offering more locally designed and produced vehicles.

Innoson is the first fully indigenous automaker in Nigeria that is under the management of a foreign corporation. The company unveiled the IVM 649 A, a made-in-Nigeria vehicle with cutting-edge facilities and design, in the fourth quarter of 2014. At first sight, you would never guess that it was an automobile made in Nigeria. This SUV is a five-to seven-seater that will make anyone feel comfortable. The exterior is one that would attract the attention of anyone, looking very powerful and sleek. Its gasoline-powered engine is quite powerful, with a max power of 76/4200  4600 (km/rpm).

At the Eagle’s Square auto fair in Abuja in October 2014, the Nigerian automaker Kia Motors Nigeria unveiled its first made-in-Nigeria automobiles, the Kia Rio, Cerato, and Optima. That demonstrates that the Nigerian government keeps its promise to expand the indigenous car sector in order to advance the country’s economy.

The Kia Optima vehicles feature a dynamically contoured rear, an aggressive front fascia, and a sleek, ultramodern style. Additionally, the skilful Kia Rio is outfitted with a trip computer and an intelligent centre fascia. The new Cerato also has the energy, flair, and performance that puts your mood in the fast lane.

According to The Stallion Group, the made-in-Nigeria Hyundai automobile is now officially available for purchase in the nation for a price ranging from N1,500,000-N1,900,000.

According to Stallion Group Chairman Sunil Vaswani, the automobile, which was put together at the Hyundai Motor facility in Lagos, has reasonable rates. That would halt the import of cars into Nigeria.

Hyundai offers the following passenger cars between N1,500,000 and N1,900,000:

  • Hyundai Gi10
  • Hyundai Accent
  • Hyundai Elantra

The highest international automotive operational standard, ISO/TS 16949, was satisfied by Hyundai vehicles, according to the managing director of Hyundai Motors Nigeria, Tokunbo Aromolaran. Additionally, Stallion Motors dealers in Lagos, Asaba, Warri, Abakaliki, and Anambra would offer Nigerians a selection of vehicles at prices under N2,000,000.

One of the automakers that produce cars locally is Peugeot, which makes the Peugeot 301. Its manufacturing facility is in Kaduna, Nigeria. Nigeria’s status as one of the greatest industrial economies in Africa has been strengthened by the introduction of the Peugeot 301 at its facility. That demonstrates how effectively the government has implemented its vehicle policy, allowing the auto sector to grow continually.

Except for Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company, the government’s updated car policy has pushed the majority of auto factories to produce their made-in-Nigeria automobiles. Additionally, the approach generates a lot more jobs for Nigerian youth and the whole community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Innoson Motors manufacture good cars?

Yes, they do. Their cars are highly durable and present an aggressive type of styling, but consumers have protested that some parts of the car acquire faults in a short time.

Why are Nigerian-made cars so expensive?

This relies on the fact that parts of the car are outwardly sourced and imported to be able to manufacture them. So, the increase in the cost of production will affect the car price.

Conclusion

Except for Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company, the government’s updated car policy has pushed the majority of auto factories to produce their made-in-Nigeria automobiles. Additionally, the approach generates a lot more jobs for Nigerian youth and the whole community.
