Having a fuel-efficient car is one of the ways to cushion the current blows from fuel prices in Nigeria. Of course, fuel-efficient cars won’t save you from paying over N600/per litre for fuel. But, do you know what it will do? It will reduce your vehicle’s fuel consumption thereby, reducing the number of trips you make to the filling station.

To help you with some of the most fuel-efficient cars to purchase in Nigeria, here are five Toyota cars that fall within this category.

  1. The Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla is one of the most popular driven cars in Nigeria. The Toyota Corolla is not just known for being reliable and having impressive safety ratings, this vehicle also has one of the best fuel economy you’ll find in a sedan today.

Regardless of the Corolla model you’re purchasing, they are all fuel-efficient. However, Corolla vehicles with four-plug cylinder engines and V6 engines are more fuel-efficient. The fuel economy power in a Corolla ranges between 10 km/L to 13.7 km/L.

Interestingly, you can get a Toyota Corolla from N2.5 million and above for Nigerian-used models. For more neater tokunbo used models, you’ll get them from N3 million and above.

  1. The Toyota Camry

Just like the Toyota Corolla, the Toyota Camry is also popular on Nigerian roads. It is reliable, durable, affordable, comes equipped with a nice-looking exterior, and it’s also easy to handle and drive.

In general, the Camry is a full-size sedan that is comfortable, and easy to maintain, and getting its car maintenance part isn’t stressful in Nigeria. Impressively, the Camry also has a good fuel efficiency capacity ranging between 9.8 km/L to 13.6 km/L.

Having the Camry in Nigeria will mean reduced trips to the filling station, especially if you get one with a four-plug or V6 engine.

  1. The Toyota RAV4

The Toyota RAV4 is also a popular car brand on Nigerian roads. It is best known for its in-built space for accommodating a family of up to 5 persons. It also has in-built features and capabilities that make it a great car choice and if you are looking for a car to buy for a rather small family, and also save money on fuel, then the Toyota RAV4 is your choice.

Its fuel efficiency ranges between 12.75 km/L to 15.73km/L. The fuel usage of the RAV4 is 85%, decent handling, and also a low-maintenance vehicle.

  1. The Toyota Prius

The Toyota Prius gained a new 2.0-litre engine and lithium-ion battery in its 2023 redesign, and the updates boosted the hybrid’s power output and fuel efficiency. The Prius’ base 194-hp LE trim with FWD is the most efficient at 57/56/57 mpg; opting for the 196-hp AWD variant with a second electric motor drops fuel economy to 53/54/54 mpg.

If you are going for the higher trims of the Toyota Prius like the XLE and Limited you’ll get a lower rating of 52/52/52 mpg with FWD and 49/50/49 mpg with AWD. However, the fuel economy rating is still impressive compared to many other vehicles. The Prius has one of the best fuel economy ratings of all Toyota cars.

  1. The Toyota Prado

The Toyota Prado is one Toyota SUV that just cuts across everything nicely when you are analyzing a full-size SUV. From 2009 to 2021, the Toyota Prado has been running on the same kind of engine variation, and it has never been problematic for its Nigerian users.

The availability of parts and seasoned technicians for the Toyota Prado makes it the go-to SUV for the leaders of the corporate world in Nigeria. Everybody wants a car on the most reliable cars in Nigeria list, and the Prado is just perfect. Not only reliability, the Prado also adds fuel efficiency to the mix. Interestingly, it’s more fuel-efficient compared to the Land Cruiser.

Conclusion

If you are in the market for fuel-efficient Toyota cars, these five above-listed vehicles are some of the Toyota cars that will help you economize on fuel. The good part is that whatever model of these vehicles helps you reduce fuel expenses. However, we recommend the ones with a four-plug engine more.
