He started Boxing in 2007 at the age of 18 when his cousin encouraged him to take up the sport. In 2009 and 2010, Anthony Joshua won the Haringey Box Cup. In 2010, he also won the ABA championships in his 18th bout, and he turned down an offer of 50,000 Pounds to turn professional. He later revealed that the real reason he turned down the money was to win medals and not to make money.
