For the past few days, the only trending news has become Davido and Burna Boy, and lately, these two music giants have added even more shine to their already luxurious garages. But while social media debates are flooding in with “who get pass who,” a closer look shows us that their new cars represent very different ideas of wealth, power, and taste.

Let’s break it down.

Davido’s 2026 Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 — Comfort and Class Ahead of Time

Davido just surprised fans by acquiring the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach SL 680, even though we’re still in 2025. That alone makes headlines — but there’s more to it. Recall, this is coming just a day after Burna boy bought McLaren Senna which is now the most expensive car in Nigeria. The SL 680 is not just a flashy car; it’s a grand touring convertible, built for long, luxurious drives, with the comfort and opulence only Maybach can deliver.

This car doesn’t just scream money, it whispers status. From two-tone paintwork to a handcrafted white-leather interior, it’s clear Davido is leaning into prestige and cruising. It follows the same thread as his recent car choices — from the Virgil Abloh Maybach to the Rolls-Royce Spectre, Davido’s taste leans toward smooth, stylish, and futuristic.

Depending on trim and customisations, the SL 680 starts at $250,000, but Davido’s version — most likely fully loaded — would cost anywhere between $700,000 and $1 million by the time it hits Nigerian soil, factoring in import duties, shipping, and luxury taxes.

Burna Boy’s McLaren Senna — A Rare Beast Built for Raw Speed

Now flip the coin, and you’ll find Burna Boy moving in a completely different direction — speed, power, and exclusivity. The 2019 McLaren Senna Exposed Carbon he recently purchased for ₦3.2 billion is not your regular luxury car. In fact, it’s barely legal to drive on public roads — a hypercar designed primarily for the racetrack.

Only 500 units of the McLaren Senna were ever made, and all of them sold out before official production even began. Burna’s model is the even rarer Exposed Carbon edition, with only 15 units in existence globally. So while people joke about it being a “Tokunbo” car, they miss the point — you can’t buy a new Senna anymore. Period.

This isn’t just a car. It’s an investment-grade asset. The value of the Senna is expected to rise over time, not depreciate like most luxury rides. Burna Boy’s garage also includes monsters like the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, Ferrari 812 Superfast, Purosangue, and a Lamborghini Urus Novitec — all pointing to his love for raw, high-performance machines.

Different Roads, Different Goals

So, which car is better? The short answer: it depends on what you value.

Davido prefers the soft life — luxury, technology, and elegance. His new Maybach is built for comfort, prestige, and enjoying the drive in style. Burna Boy, on the other hand, is all about visceral driving. He wants the thrill, the noise, the track-inspired adrenaline you get from pressing down the pedal of a McLaren Senna or Lamborghini SVJ.

Both cars cost a fortune. Both scream wealth. But they serve different purposes and reflect different personalities.

Carmart.ng Final Word

It’s tempting to turn every celebrity purchase into a contest, but when you look deeper, it’s not about who spent more. It’s about intention. Davido is building a fleet of future classics — ultra-modern cars that ride smooth and feel good. Burna Boy is collecting some of the rarest and most aggressive machines on earth, built to thrill and dominate.

Comfort vs. speed. Prestige vs. power. Maybach vs. McLaren. Davido vs. Burna.

Let the streets decide — but either way, Nigeria wins.
