Remember the World First Mercedes Maybach Off-Roader we reviewed last time? Recently, American rapper Drake featured it in his music video. The Maybach itself is a product of the “Project Maybach” spearheaded by the late fashion designer Virgil Abloh.
Drake’s feature of the Maybach in his music video comes after the rapper dedicated his latest album, “Honestly, Nevermind”, to the late fashion designer.
Dressed in a beige camping attire to match the off-road concept of the Maybach, Drake raps about the Off-White founder, saying, “off-road Maybach, pyrex trap, Virgil came back through the boy, damn, that’s something to me.”
Since the video’s release on August 3rd, it has gotten over three million views.

Virgil Abloh Mercedes Maybach Off-Road Concept Car
At almost 6 metres long, the Project Maybach was launched this year in honour of fashion designer Virgil Abloh.
Before his death, Virgil Abloh worked with Mercedes to deliver a masterful design of the two-seater Maybach coupe.
The car was built from scratch; it has eight spotlights, massive off-road tires, a roof rack, and a full external roll cage.
The entire Maybach concept is electric and comes with a solar panel under the transparent front hood of the car.
To make the Maybach as luxurious as possible, Mercedes and Abloh made it a two-seater.
Both seats are covered in leather and can be folded back into beds. It is designed so passengers can lie back and stare at the night sky through the glass roof.
Mercedes called the concept spearheaded by Virgil Abloh a “design, unlike anything that Mercedes-Benz has developed.”
The company also said it was a “humble contribution to Virgil Abloh’s vast legacy.”
“Mercedes-Benz is devastated to hear of the passing of Virgil Abloh. Our sincere thoughts are with Virgil’s family and teams,” the company said.
“We want to respectfully celebrate the work of a unique design talent, which created endless possibilities for collaboration through his unbridled imagination and inspired all who knew his work.”
Seeing Drake feature this Maybach concept in his recent music video, too many, it felt like one of the best ways to preserve and remember the unique work Abloh did with the concept.
