The federal government on Wednesday approved the contract for the supply of 21 vehicles by Innoson Motors to the Federal Road Safety Corporation. The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, disclosed the details of the contract during a news briefing following the meeting of the Executive Council.

He stated that the contract was awarded to the Innoson Manufacturing Company for the manufacture of 20 pick-up vehicles, as well as a City Bus. He noted that the contract was in support of the company’s efforts in encouraging local industries.

The Minister of Communications, Isa Pantami, has secured approval from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for the establishment of broadband infrastructure for various educational institutions and micro-enterprises in the country.

According to Mohammad, the contract for the establishment of broadband infrastructure was awarded to a number of companies for a total of N16,709,835. He also stated that the approval of the supply, installation and upgrading of new equipment for emergency communication centres across the country was granted.

The FEC also approved the approval of the International Labor Organization’s Supplementary Provision for Migrant Workers, as well as the country’s ratification of the 1975 Convention on the Rights of Workers. The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, disclosed that the approval of the draft national policy on welding was also received.

In another development, the Minister of Works and Housing, Adebayo Alade, presented a memo seeking approval of a revised estimate of the cost of the Patigi-Ada Road project in Kwara State. The contract was revised to include an augmentation of ₦1.192 billion, which will result in a total cost of ₦5.5 billion.

The FEC also approved the revised estimate of the contract for the rehabilitation of the road section between the town of Rijau and the town of Katangora in Niger state. The contractor had sought a revised cost of ₦2.8 billion, which brought the total contract value to ₦6.5 billion.
