An online auto auction site is a great opportunity for you to shop from the comfort of your home while looking at used, like new, and salvage, cars, trucks, and SUVs. As the demand for cars grows in Ghana, many people are looking for other platforms to buy their desired car without having to go through the hassle of car dealers and price negotiations. Truth is, an online auto auction platform is a great way to own your next car at surprisingly affordable prices.

Types Of Car Auctions

Broadly speaking, there are two major types of car auctions you can partake in Ghana. These are;

  • Auctions open to the public
  • Auctions are open to dealers only

Auctions open to the public don’t have many restrictions and regulations involved. All you need to do is register with the auction site and pay any necessary due. However, auctions opened to dealers are exclusive to car dealers. To register and bid at these auctions, you need a dealer’s license, hence, it is closed to the public.

Advantages of buying a car from an online auction

It is extremely convenient

Right from the comfort of your home, you can have a look at thousands of cars, bid and finally purchase the car you want. Time equals money, and this means that the more time you spend trying to find yourself a car in person, the more money you lose as you do so.

Cars bought at online auctions are extremely cheap

If you have been looking for an affordable car to buy, cars sold at car auctions are worth considering. What many people don’t know is that most car dealers sell cars they bought at cheap prices from auction sites. Why not, just buy it directly and save for yourself thousands of dollars or Ghana Cedis.

You have a wide range of cars to choose from

Quite often, there are hundreds to thousands of cars of different models and body types available to buy ok auction sites.

Fake auction sites:

As technology advances, fraudulent practices have seemed to evolve with it. All that glitters is not gold is a warning you need to keep in mind when you seek to buy your car from online auction sites. Do thorough research, read reviews, and ask people knowledgeable about cars, and auctions around you; before paying any money to bid or buy your car from auction sites

Delay in payment processing

Since auction sites are online, the payment process happens via online channels. It’s possible you experience challenges when paying for a car bid you won. Ensure you have good internet and a functional credit card when you want to make car purchases on auction sites.

Car misrepresentation

A challenge with online auction car purchases is getting a ‘wrong’ car delivered to you. On auction sites, you don’t get to see and touch the car paid for. There is the risk of the car one way on the auction site and looking another way (which is bad in most cases) when it gets delivered to you. A rule of thumb to not fall victim to this is to ensure the credibility of the auction site you are making your purchase. Also, don’t be in a hurry to bid or purchase a car if you have not read its details and full review.
