Those familiar with the Toyota Camry sedan and the Toyota Venza SUV know that there are some Toyota vehicles that come with two different types of engines installed. These engines are the 4-cylinder and the 6-cylinder engine.

In either a Venza or Camry, you could see the 4-cylinder or the 6-cylinder engine. It all depends on the particular trim level of the cars you’re purchasing. But how can you tell when these vehicles have either the 4-cylinder or the 6-cylinder engine?

First of all, it’s important to note that to be able to know about the engine type of the Camry, you have to check either the sixth or seventh generation of the Toyota Camry.

The sixth generation Toyota Camry uses either a 2.4-litre 2AZ-FE Inline-four engine or a 3.5-litre 2GR-FE V6 engine for the gas-powered engine. In the seventh-generation Toyota Camry, you’ll find a 2.5-litre four-cylinder gasoline engine or a 3.5-litre V6 engine.

In the Toyota Venza, all the different models from various generations of the vehicle use either a 2.7-litre 1AR-FE Inline-four engine or the 3.5-litre 2GR-FE V6 engine gas-powered engine.

How To Differentiate 4-cylinder & 6-cylinder Engine By Looking at the Rear of a Car

Did you know that you can know the engine type of a car by merely looking at the car’s rear? This is determined by looking at the number of exhaust pipes in the vehicle. It’ll tell you if the car is a four-cylinder or a V6 engine.

A four-cylinder engine uses only one exhaust pipe at the right side of the rear; a V6 engine uses a two-pipe exhaust installed at different ends of a car.

Another way to tell them apart is by listening to the engine sound. They both have different engine sounds, and another way is by driving the car and observing how fast the vehicle moves. Another interesting way to find out is by the fuel consumption capacity of the car. Four-cylinder engines are more fuel-efficient than the V6 engine.

Conclusion

It’s not hard to identify between a four-cylinder engine and a V6 engine. All you need to know is master how they operate. Their exhaust pipes remain the fastest way to tell them apart.
