The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, revealed that his administration had disbursed over 1.8 billion Naira for vehicle and housing loans to public officials, local government employees, and teachers in his previous four years as a token of appreciation as well as a government welfare commitment to the people.

During that period, the Governor also noted that his administration paid 2.9 billion Naira as gratuities to retired civil servants.

He also pledged that his government is working tirelessly to arrange for the payment of one month’s salary arrears this month to honour the workers’ day during this year’s May Day Rally held at the Ekiti Parapo Pavillion in Ado Ekiti.

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, further assured that the total clearance of the remaining arrears is being looked into after giving consent for the cash execution of the 2017 and 2018 promotions.

Also revealed was the amount spent on the car and housing loans, respectively. The car loan and housing loan for civil servants and local government staff totalled 571.3 Million Naira and 41.3 million Naira.

The record also states that 287.3 million Naira was the car loans disbursed to teachers, and 299.8 million Naira was disbursed as student loans.

Following previous reports on car loans disbursed by the Ekiti state government, over 278 civil servants and local government employees benefited from 80 thousand Naira to 1.5 million Naira from the car loans.
