The 5th generation RX has a similar C-pillar design but the rest is all new riding on the TNGA-K architecture shedding 198lbs from before, sporting a larger wheelbase and shrinking the overhangs. With new LED lights, a new spindle facia, the RX looks more futuristic than ever. To showcase the new model, Lexus teamed up with designer Harris Reed who created these Ruby Red Rims inspired by the red slippers from the wizard of oz.
Base is the RX350 with a 2.4L Turbo 4 making 275HP and 317 lb-ft of torque to FWD or AWD through an 8 speed auto. The RX350h gets a 2.5L n/a 4 cylinder hybrid system making 248HP and 233 lb-ft of torque with 33MPG and is AWD only. Then the new RX 500h F Sport Performance gets a 2.4L turbo 4 hybrid making 367HP and 406 lb-ft of torque with a Direct4 AWD system.
The 2023 RX will be available in six trim levels: Standard, Premium, Premium+, Luxury, F Sport Handling, and F Sport Performance. The Top trim F sport P gets custom wheels, styling and more. Inside is totally new with an available 14in infotainment system, swaths of ambient lighting, a digital dash and all the new Lexus switchgear. Deliveries begin in late 2022 though pricing is not out yet.
Lexus also prepared a special red livery for the debut, evidently made to match Reed’s fabulous hairdo and the wheels. On top of that, “Ruby Red Rims” adorns the side of the car, just below the F-Sport badge.
