A few days ago, the legendary footballer Edson Arantes do Nascimento, mostly known as Pelé, died at the age of 82 in Brazil after a long battle with cancer. He was also once the Minister of Sports in Brazil.
Pelé is one of the greatest footballers of all time, having won the World Cup three times and retiring in 1977. Still, he made it to Forbes’ list of wealthiest athletes at number 10 in 2015.
While Pelé was a force on the football pitch, the legend also had an incredible collection of cars. His unique car collection is mostly filled with vintage luxury and iconic vehicles.
The interesting part is that the majority of these cars were gifts he got from the manufacturers of the cars. One of them is the iconic W111 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The Mercedes-Benz was a chassis code given to a range of Mercedes-Benz vehicles produced between 1959 and 1971. The saloon car is equipped with a 2.5-litre straight-six engine and generates 126.24 horsepower and can clock 180 kmph. This performance rate is impressive considering the vehicle’s era.
