2018 Mercedes Benz E400 Engine And Performance

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 is equipped with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V-6 engine that produces 329 horsepower and 354 pound-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a responsive nine-speed automatic transmission that behaves well.

No matter the driving mode, the 329-horsepower engine is well-matched to a car such as the E-Class coupe, and for the 2018 model year, it is now available on the sedan, too.

On the track, the all-wheel-drive 2018 E400 coupe ran from 0 mph to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. The all-wheel-drive E400 wagon reached 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. Driven quickly around a street corner or on bendy roads, the E400 4Matic coupe’s steering reacts well and the car exhibits little body roll.

The car has an estimated fuel economy of 20 mpg city run, 26 mpg highway run and 22 mpg combined.

The E-Class coupe has the new Mercedes’ design language and it wears the language well. The coupe has a smooth-yet-taut overall shape which is a departure from the previous luxury class, where aggressive designs with sharp lines are common. Mercedes has taken a different path with the E-Class and other models, and the resulting look is elegant, timeless and appealing.

The two-door E-Class forgoes traditional B-pillars, which gives it a wide expanse of side-window glass. This pillarless design is now a rarity. Not only does it look good, it also looks practical because, without a B-pillar to block your sightlines, but over-shoulder visibility is also excellent. The only thing that is a little strange about the E-Class’ design is the small, fixed rear-quarter windows, which destroys an otherwise graceful look.

The COMAND features are just one part of what is a truly stunning cabin. The big screens are placed beside gorgeous, open-pore wood, and stylized, retro-chic air vents combined with rich leather on the seats and door panels, and wonderful attention to detail with the metal finishes, and you have an interior totally befitting of the three-pointed star on the E400’s grille.

The E-Class has four passenger seats, but the back seats should be left for smaller passengers. While a lot of convertibles are noises, the E400 is nicely hushed. Wind and road noise are kept outside thanks to the heavily padded soft top, which can raise or lower in 20 seconds, and at speeds up to 30 miles per hour. Depending on your exterior colour, you can even have the roof fabric to be in red, black, dark blue or dark brown.

2018 Mercedes Benz E400 Buying Guide

  1. Authentic Dealers: The worst thing that could happen to anyone is getting a fake car or a car with fake parts. This can be really frustrating and painful. This is why you should ensure you purchase your car from authentic dealers.
  2. Check Engine Parts: Since the engine is used to move the car, it is important you check the engine to ensure it is still okay especially if it is a fairly used model you are getting, so you do not end up being duped. A faulty engine may result in lots of repair and would render the car useless at a point.
