The Toyota Corolla is one of the most driven cars in Nigeria. It’s almost impossible to not count a handful of Corolla cars driving through Nigerian roads every day. Almost every Nigerian wants to own a decent Corolla, and with the current prices of cars, many are subjected to Corolla models of 2002-2005 that cost about N4.5 million.

While the 2002 to 2005 are regarded as some of the most affordable Toyota Corolla cars in the market today, here are some of the hidden costs of owning this vehicle in Nigeria today.

  1. Easily Breakable Side Mirror

While the 2002 – 2005 Corolla is affordable, you will have to be careful with your Corolla’s side mirror as it’s easily breakable. The price of a Corolla side mirror in Nigeria today is N15,000, while the foldable version of the mirror is N20,000.

  1. Easily Damaged Front and Rare Bumper

If you own the 2002 to 2005 Toyota Corolla, you’ll have to be careful with your vehicle’s rear and front bumper. The current price for an original Corolla front bumper in Nigeria is N60,000, with the plastic version selling for N35,000 and the rare bumper selling for N45,000.

  1. Easily Damaged Front & Back Light

Be very mindful of your 2002 to 2005 Toyota Corolla as the front and back light of the vehicle is very expensive. The front light costs N45,000 and the backlights cost N30,000. So, be very careful with your Toyota Corolla to avoid the front and backlights getting damaged, or else you’ll have a huge sum in your hands to pay.

The Toyota Corolla comes with a very expensive widescreen that costs N60,000 to replace in the situation yours gets damaged. Always protect your vehicle’s widescreen to avoid having to replace the widescreen due to damage.

Always be mindful of your Toyota Corolla’s car tyres as they can easily get damaged and replacing them is quite expensive in Nigeria today. One tyre of the Corolla currently costs N12,000 and to replace four tyres, you’ll have to spend N48,000 for the Tokunbo tyres, and N120,000 for the brand-new set.

  1. Expensive Corolla Brain Box

The Toyota Corolla is one of the vehicles that thieves target the most in Nigeria, and the brain box of any car is one of the parts that gets stolen. Safeguard your vehicles from getting stolen as the price of a Corolla Brain Box is N80,000. 

  1. Expensive Shock Absorber

While the Toyota Corolla is a reliable car for Nigerian roads due to its highly efficient suspension system, in case any part of it spoils, you will have huge costs in your hands. To replace the shock absorber of a Corolla, you’ll spend N130,000 and a shock absorber pad costs N15,000. Also, to change your Corolla’s ball joint, it’ll cost N15,000.

  1. Expensive Radiator & Engine

In the rare case your Toyota Corolla’s radiator spoils, getting a new one in Nigeria today will cost you N30,000. If you ever need to replace the engine of your Toyota Corolla, you’ll have to spend N800,000 to get a brand-new engine.
