While other EV brands are going upmarket, the VW group is moving downmarket with the VW brand. Thus we have the new VW ID.2 All concept that aims to sell for under $26,000 and should launch before 2026. It will be as spacious as a Golf but as cheap as a Polo. It will ride on their new MEB Entry platform and will be FWD.

The concept features a 222HP motor upfront allowing for 0-60 in under 7 sec with a 99MPH TopSpeed and around 280 miles of range on the WLTP cycle.

The design is their most normal-looking EV yet, ditching the frumpy bubbly looks of the ID3, 4, 5 and even the Buzz. Here is a return to tradition and it fits well. Inside is also a more welcoming space with a 12.9in touchscreen, a redesigned HVAC panel with illuminated buttons, a sleek retro-inspired steering wheel, and sustainable seating materials.

On top of that, the ID.2 all has a rectangular stowage box under the trunk’s floor that can hold several bags of groceries, for example, while another stowage area with a capacity of 1.76 cu ft (50 litres) is under the rear seat, which can be folded up in one easy movement. This lockable compartment can accommodate larger devices such as laptops and tablets.

Despite being the smallest ID. model to date, the production model previewed by the ID. 2all will be equipped with tech from larger models. That will include the latest version of the Travel Assist Level 2 ADAS, Park Assist Plus with memory function, IQ.Light LED matrix headlights, 3D LED taillight clusters united by a horizontal LED strip, and ID.Light interactive light signals for the driver.
