A Lagos-based car dealer has painfully narrated his recent ordeal with Lagos thugs due to a new car his client purchased.

The Instagram page @carcontinent posted a video that has now gained thousands of views and comments explaining how Lagos state areas boys tried to extort him due to the new vehicle. In the account, the car dealer narrates:

“Today we went to get a car for a customer who resides in abj, after the purchase, we started heading home, then the touts in apapa axis accosted us, threatening to remove the side mirror and also to destroy the wiper. After several back and forth we gave them 1000, and he kept insisting we pay more, at that point we parked the car and said Ogun ogberahhhhh (tell your edo friends to translate for you).

We came down and were ready to dig it, at this point, the guy just started walking away.”

Since sharing his ordeal with the Lagos thug, many car dealers have lamented that they’ve had similar experiences in Lagos. Here are some of the reactions:

@temitayo_akinseye commented: “Those touts on the road are a big problem on that axis they just think it’s their right to extort people especially those who went to buy cars or car dealers. I’ve had my fair share with them and the experience was just so disheartening.”

@iamgoodness commented: “It’s a daily occurrence my brother…able bodied young men cant get something meaningful to do…that’s why most of us when we go to pick up our cars at the port we remove such things they can easily lay hands on..”

@olamide7760 commented: “The last time i bought a truck from Apapa, i paid 4k before i could drive to mile 2.”

@deemikzmedia commented: “Only Dealer can tell this story…Those guys are very foolish na because you dey speak English give them.”
