If you enjoy the great outdoors, you are in for a treat. The Mazda CX-5 is a simplified crossover SUV that Mazda has added to its inventory. The CX-5 is an off-road vehicle that is tough. At a great price, it combines power, comfort, and practicality.

If you’re looking for an SUV for your outdoor excursions, there is a lot of competition, so you might be wondering how the CX-5 compares. The Honda Passport, in particular, might be at the top of your list. Although Honda’s reputation for dependability is an appealing selling point, Mazda offers you four unquestionable reasons to think about the CX-5 instead. If you enjoy the great outdoors, you are in for a treat.

As more and more drivers look for cars that can handle off-road excursions, rugged SUVs are becoming more and more popular. It can be challenging to select the ideal SUV for you and your family from the crowded compact SUV and midsize SUV market because each model has unique features. This brings up the Honda Passport and the Mazda CX-5.

2022 Mazda CX-5 Adds new Styling and All-Wheel Driv

A tough, little SUV with a competitive price, the 2022 Mazda CX-5 is only marginally more expensive than the other in its series. How does it perform in comparison to other off-road SUVs of comparable size that are available? Consider these three benefits the Honda Passport offers over the Mazda CX-5 in 2022.

  1. Increased torque and horsepower

The 2.5-litre inline four-cylinder engine in the 2022 Mazda CX-5 is outperformed by the standard 3.5-litre V6 engine and nine-speed automated transmission in the 2022 Honda Passport compact SUV.

The Honda Passport’s powerful V6 produces 262 lb-ft of torque and 280 horsepower. According to reviews, Honda’s 3.5-litre V6 engine delivers smooth and snappy performance, with sufficient power at the ready. We can expect the Passport’s engine to not only give you value, but the handling seems almost too good.

In contrast, the standard engine in the Mazda CX-5 only produces 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. All CX-50 versions have all-wheel drive and automatic transmissions, and Toyota has plans to introduce a hybrid powertrain in the not too distant future. Undoubtedly, the Mazda is efficient but is no match for the turbocharged Passport.

  1. Greater Towing Capacity

According to the ratings, the 2022 Honda Passport has a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds. Compared to the 2022 Mazda CX-5, which has a maximum trailering capacity of just 2,000 pounds, that vehicle has many more capabilities.

According to a recent press release from Honda, the Honda Passport can “navigate rough routes, and its 5,000-pound towing capability (with AWD, with additional equipment) allows it to carry a large camper trailer or off-road toys.”

The Honda needs an optional transmission oil cooler, which costs a small fee and prevents the vehicle’s transmission from wearing out when towing high loads, in order to handle up to 5,000 lbs of towing capacity. The Passport has a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds without it, which is still higher than the Mazda CX-5.

  1. More Cargo Capacity

With all seats in position, the 2022 Honda Passport has a generous 41.2 cubic feet of cargo space. There is a total of 77.9 cubic feet of capacity when the back seats are folded down. Due to various measuring techniques, Honda may list 50.5 and 100.7 cubic feet, respectively.

With all seats in place, the five-passenger 2023 Mazda CX-5 has a cargo capacity of 31.4 cubic feet. When the 60/40 split back seats are folded down, only 56.3 cubic feet of capacity are accessible.

Is the NEW 2022 Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition a better SUV than a Honda CR-V?

According to reviews, the Mazda CX-5’s overall load capacity is “near the bottom of the small crossover class.” The cargo area of the CX-50 “doesn’t quite match what its longer-than-average proportions may suggest. With a large number of seats, the Passport is practical and extremely comfortable.

Conclusion

Honestly, it would be a hard choice to pick between these two superior cars. Each is endowed with its own advantage. The price for the 2022 Honda Passport includes economy, cargo and passenger space. Performance, towing, safety, and interior innovations are benefits for the 2022 Mazda CX-50 But on the surface, the Mazda puts in the most effort. The Passport seems like any other compact SUV out there. The only interesting feature would have to be its fuel efficiency. What should matter most is how these cars can fit into your particular lifestyle and their sustainability.
