No car is built perfectly since they are all human-made, therefore some cars have problems ranging from minor to extreme. Below are the common problems associated with some models of vehicles. This is to provide information on the problems you may encounter when you purchase and start using the vehicle, so you would know how to minimise it from affecting you.

Engine Oil Dries Up: Owners of Toyota Camry models claim the engines of these vehicles burn oil at a rapid rate. According to owners, the cars use as much as a quart every 1,200 miles and constantly needs oil refills, which is strange. Owners say there is often no sign of internal or external leaking, pointing to a defect in the engine. Problems linked to the excess oil consumption include smoke pouring out from the tailpipe, weak acceleration power, and poor vehicle performance. Others have reported premature car stalling (because of engine failure), engine seizures and damaged catalytic converters. In extreme cases, the engine blows up or knocks because of low oil levels. Toyota released a Technical Service Bulletin in 2011 acknowledging that the engines on some of their Camry models were consuming excess oil. While Toyota initially offered an option for owners under warranty to repair their vehicles at no charge, many drivers were left out as their cars had exceeded the warranty limit.

Melting Dashboard: Toyota has been sued a lot of times because of this problem. The problem is actually all over the world but because Nigerians mostly patronise Tokunbo cars, the melting/cracking dashboard happens a lot here. Over time, people have come up with solutions for this flaw of Toyota cars. Chemical-based companies have developed a dashboard repair kit for melting Toyota models. This kit is like a polish that prevents your dashboard from melting and it can only be bought in Nigeria via an online transaction that will take a couple of weeks for delivery.

Water Pump Failure: The water pumps on the E90 335i’s engine are another fragile piece of equipment. The water pump is responsible for pumping water into the radiator, in order to cool engine temperatures. Along with your engine fan, the water pump and radiator are important parts of your cooling system.

A lot of times these pumps will fail with almost NO warning signs at all! Sometimes, you may be lucky enough to get a warning sign or two. There are no quick fixes here, no easy fixes, and no cheap parts. Your only option is to replace the water pump and suck up the cost. It costs about N150k to fix the water pump in Nigeria.

Owners of Nissan Murano SUVs have reported several recurring CVT transmission problems, including lurching, acceleration issues, vehicle overheating and premature transmission failure. Many 2015–2021 Nissan Murano SUVs still face recurring safety issues with its CVT transmissions, with some consumers reporting that Nissan failed to troubleshoot these problems.

Starting Problem: Lexus IS350 is a reliable road companion, but its a machine with hundreds of interconnected parts, and like any other machine it sometimes fail to deliver normal operation. The most common causes that hinders normal starting operation of a Lexus IS350 model are dead key fob battery, dead 12v battery, corrosion on battery terminals, bad alternator, clogged fuel filter, broken starter, blown fuse, empty gas tank, immobilizer error or any fault in the electrical system. When looking for the trigger, you should always start with the most obvious cause, the empty battery. It is advisable for the owner to call a breakdown service or a workshop. In the event of a defect, the latter can directly initiate the repair.

Engine Failure At Over 60k Miles: The Mercedes-Benz C300 is a stylish, sporty competitor in the luxury small car segment. It is considered to be an entry-level model and fans of the S-class will appreciate this smaller, more affordable sibling. However, even though the C300 is more reasonably priced than some of its fancier siblings, fixing its mechanical problems do not come cheap and one of the major problems of the model is its engine failure which can just go off at about over 60K miles.

Range Rover Sport Most Common Problems

Electrical Failure: The Land Rover is one of those vehicles that make you feel like you can conquer anything. Unfortunately, greatness does not make these vehicles immune to things such as electrical problems. However, most of these problems are not too dangerous, and mostly just annoying, but a few of them do raise some concern when it comes to the driver’s safety.

Suspension Failure: The problem is not with Range Rover, it is with air suspensions in general. As advanced as air suspensions are, they are still complex systems made up of many moving and flexible parts. Air suspension systems also rely on computers to control them. Whether you have a faulty compressor, leaky air lines, or just a cracked airbag, this repair is not going to be your last. The problem might even spread to other parts of your Range Rover. A busted suspension puts extra wear and tear on your brakes as the suspension absorbs less and less of the force of coming to a stop. This can lead to early failure of your braking system. A bad suspension is also terrible for your steering system. All in all, your car’s suspension is the connection point between the road and the rest of its components. Problems with your air suspension mean problems for your vehicle overall.
